Bigfoot Beverages Stops Recognition of the Teamsters Amid Strike
Dec. 3, 2024  | Bigfoot Beverages, the Oregon-based drinks distributor, has stopped recognizing its workers union amid an ongoing strike. Union representatives say the move is illegal. The workers have been on strike for more than 70 days, seeking a contract that retains their pensions, rather than transitioning to a 401(k). According to the union, this is required for employees to qualify for the Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Trust. Learn more here.

Teamsters to Amazon: ‘We are done asking nicely’
Dec. 9, 2024  | The Teamsters “are done asking nicely for Amazon to stop breaking the law,” said the union’s president, Sean O’Brien, who has given the e-commerce giant a Dec. 15 deadline to agree to collective bargaining dates. “Thousands of Amazon workers around the country have courageously united to take on one of the world’s most abusive employers,” O’Brien said. “Amazon has a legal obligation to recognize the Teamsters and to start negotiating. Teamsters at Detroit refinery win 3-month strike, secure new contract
Dec. 16, 2024  | Members of Teamsters Local 283 at Marathon Petroleum’s Detroit refinery have ratified a new contract, ending a 101-day strike. In September, Marathon Teamsters were forced to the picket line after their employer refused to negotiate in good faith. The new agreement includes a 24.5 percent wage increase over the life of the contract, health care coverage paid for solely by the employer, union security, and access to the Teamsters Central States Pension Fund. Amazon Teamsters authorize strike at two NYC warehouses
Dec. 16, 2024  | Amazon Teamsters at two New York City facilities—JFK8 and DBK4—have voted overwhelmingly to authorize strikes following Amazon’s illegal refusal to recognize their union and negotiate a contract addressing the company’s low wages and dangerous working conditions. Amazon workers at 10 facilities around the country have organized with the Teamsters. Amazon has repeatedly failed in its legal obligation to bargain with its unionized workforce.
